Kodak Ektar 100 - vivid colours

I shot my first roll of Kodak Ektar 100 and as I have taken 15 shots now, I might have few words to say about it. I haven't photographed any specific subjects in a testing purpose, so this is more my own experiences of the film in my normal use.

Kodak Ektar 100 is still quite new film as it came to the market in 2008, when most of the manufacturers were more or less bringing down their films than introducing anything new. You can have this film in 35 mm format, 120 format and in sheets so there are formats for every photographer.

Kodak says that this is the worlds sharpest film - and it sure might be. I should have a better scanner to see it myself. But what you can see is the contrast and vivid colours this film has. The colours are very bright and there's a good contrast. So this is good film for landscapes and any other subjects where you would like to highlight colours. Probably this is not the best choice for portraits as this could turn skin tones more red than they really are.

By the experience of this one roll, I would say this is a really nice film and I would like to shoot more with it. But what bothers me at the moment with this film is the speed. When it's autumn and it becomes darker and darker every day the ISO 100 speed is a bit too slow for general photography, if there's not good light available.

After all I recommend to test this film if you haven't tried this before!
